Secretarial

·         RFU raffle tickets have been received. More books will be requested.

·         Beiron Rees highlighted the need for more volunteers to take up vacant posts.

Playing

·         Presidents Shield 1st team v Millwall we be played at home on 22nd November K.O 2.00pm

·         Roy White proposed that an Ilford Vets v Ex “A” game to be played as the other home fixture. This was agreed by the committee.

Junior

·         Junior section is actively recruiting in Redbridge schools (Seven Kings, Beale, Trinity and Caterham )

·         Teams now running U8, U10,U11,U13, U15

·         There has been an increase of 40% of Junior players overall and 90% of subscriptions have been collected

·         U8 -10 are doing well. A letter was received from Harlow RFC praising the conduct of IWRFC players and supporters at their recent festival.

·         U15 beat Upminster in the Essex cup (9th Nov) and will play the next round in January 2009

 

Social

·         Fireworks night produced an overall profit of approx £90

·         Roy White proposed that next year the theme of the disco will be Halloween as costs will be less and the event has increasing interest by young people.

·         Beiron Rees reported that the president’s day lunch was a success, 53 “Wanderers” attended the lunch.

·         Beiron Rees informed that there will be a mid week Christmas lunch held at the Met Police ground, Chigwell on Wed 10th December 2008. Numbers are limited, any club member interested should contact Beiron for details. 07949 159727 or E-mail beiron.rees@essexrugby.com

·         Next scheduled pre match lunch at the club is on 20th December

 

AOB

·         Bob James/Phil Smith Jones  reported that Sky TV was now available in the club and the it should be publicised on the website to encourage members to watch games at the club.

 

·         Tony McCarthy has sourced some new version Ties / Shirts and will provide samples for appraisal.

·         Tony McCarthy reported that there is still a major leak in the back toilets (reported in October meeting)

·         Steve Stuckey informed that the public liability certificate needs to be clearly displayed in the club.

·         Committee agreed that Lisa Marsons will provide signed hand books to paid up members which also act as a receipt for subscription payment.

·         The committee proposed that in order to recruit more referees the club would:

1.      Provide funding for volunteers to attend referee training  

      courses.

2.      Expect those funded to referee a reasonable number of

           IWRFC home fixtures.

3.      Provide free refreshments in the bar on the day that

      referees had completed a home game.

·           Phil Smith Jones  reported that an application by local residents had be made to gate off the adjacent foot path between 8.00pm and 8.00am every day. PSJ to monitor action

·           Phil Smith Jones  thanked Steve Stuckey  and Tony McCarthy for the redecorating work they had carried out in the club
